YYC Arrivals Guide: Where to Meet Your Private Driver

August 29, 2026

Before you land

If you added your flight number when you booked, PrimeKar is already tracking it. That means the pickup is planned around your actual landing time rather than the scheduled time printed on your ticket. It is a small piece of information that does a lot of work: a delayed flight does not leave your driver waiting on a schedule that no longer applies, and it does not leave you rushing because a two-hour delay quietly consumed a wait window you never saw. Adding the flight number takes a few seconds at booking and is the single most useful thing you can do to make the arrival straightforward.

Domestic and international arrive in different places

This is the detail that surprises first-time visitors. Calgary International handles domestic arrivals and international arrivals through different parts of the terminal, and they do not emerge at the same point. Domestic passengers come out considerably sooner and closer to the main arrivals area. International passengers clear customs and immigration first, which adds time that varies with how many aircraft landed around the same moment. If you are connecting from an international flight onto a domestic leg, you will arrive as a domestic passenger. Knowing which one you are is worth more than memorising a door number.

After you land, don't rush

You do not need to message your driver the moment the wheels touch the runway. Collect your bags first. Complimentary wait time on airport transfers is 45 minutes, and for inbound flights it starts from when you actually land rather than from when you get in touch, so there is nothing to be gained by messaging early from the aisle. Use the time as it is intended: clear the aircraft, clear customs if that applies, collect luggage, and then get in touch when you are genuinely ready to walk out.

Meeting your driver

When you are through and ready, you call or message your driver in the app. Both directions work, and this is the point at which you agree exactly where to meet. Pickup is curbside at arrivals, and the specific door depends on which terminal area you have come out of and how the airport is running that day. Rather than committing to a fixed spot days in advance and hoping it still makes sense, your driver confirms it with you in the moment. If you would rather not navigate that at all, say so when you book and it can be arranged differently.

Loading up and heading out

Your driver helps load luggage and gets you settled before setting off, which sounds obvious and is precisely the part that gets skipped when you are managing bags in a queue of moving traffic. From there it is wherever you are going: a downtown hotel, a meeting, home, or straight on to Banff, Canmore, Lake Louise or Jasper. Continuing to the mountains from YYC is one booking rather than two, with the same flight-tracked pickup as any other arrival.

If your flight changes at the last minute

This is the actual point of flight tracking, and it is built to absorb exactly this. A delay does not require you to rebook, call ahead, or explain yourself. The pickup follows what really happened rather than what the timetable predicted. For something more unusual than a delay, such as a diversion to another airport, a cancellation, or an arrival far outside the expected window, reaching PrimeKar directly is always an option and the phone line is answered around the clock. The general principle holds: tell us early rather than late, and there is almost always a workable answer.

Travelling with a group or a lot of luggage

Vehicle class is decided at booking, not at the curb, so it is worth being accurate about what you are bringing. PrimeKar Executive covers up to 4 passengers; Elite XL covers up to 6 using full-size SUVs. Skis, golf bags, oversized cases, a stroller and a car seat all take space that a passenger count alone does not capture. If your group is arriving on more than one flight, say that at booking too, because it changes how the pickup is planned rather than being a detail to resolve on the day.

Late-night and early-morning arrivals

YYC has arrivals well outside ordinary hours, and those are among the trips where a booked-ahead vehicle earns its place most clearly. Scheduled shared services thin out considerably late at night, and on-demand availability is least reliable exactly when the terminal is quietest. A pickup arranged in advance is settled before the day starts, which is a different proposition from standing at the curb at one in the morning finding out what is available.

Heading out from Calgary, not arriving

One thing worth being clear about, because it is a common assumption: flight tracking applies to flights arriving into YYC. For a departure, the pickup is arranged for the time you choose, and it is worth building in more margin than feels necessary, particularly during Stampede, through the winter, or on any morning where the roads may be a factor. If you are unsure how much time to leave for a specific flight, ask when you book rather than guessing.

The short version

Add your flight number when you book. Collect your bags before you get in touch. Message or call your driver in the app when you are actually ready, agree the door, and walk out. If something changes, tell us early. That is the whole process, and most of it consists of not hurrying.
